On a peaceful December night, the night of a special and dear moment to all of us, the night a new country has been created, The United Arab Emirates On the 2nd of December.

A girl was sitting under the moon:

I am surrounded by my usual night companions: the moon, the stars and the silence of the night. I ask myself out loud:

If my eyes aren’t lying           the moon is smiling

Am I going nuts?                 Or the whole night is duff

                                       That I’m imagining this stuff!

But a voice in the back of my mind says:

No dear, indeed the moon is smiling. On a day like this, two remarkable characters; Zayed Al Nahyan & Rashid Al Maktoum made an accomplishment, without it I’m sure you’re not going to be living this life. The union of the 7 Emirates!

In this night, you can feel the purity of the leaders’ hearts that day, their honesty in the pledge they made, the strong chain they created connecting each city to the other to form this country.

Not a man, an army, or even a nation can break this chain!

After all, how could a person living in this country does not feel the joy and all these emotions in this gracious day?

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Abu Dhabi

The largest mosque in United Arab Emirates… Its construction was initiated by UAE’s late president, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his corpse is buried beside the mosque. It is said that its design and construction ‘unites the world’, because the artisans and the materials came from different countries all over the globe. Its construction costs 2 billion dirhams or roughly 545 million US dollars. It has unique and extravagant details… Its carpet in the main prayer room is considered as the world’s largest carpet (everyone should come in barefooted). It has seven imported (from Germany) chandeliers incorporated with millions of Swarovski crystals. The largest chandelier in this mosque is considered as the second largest chandelier in a mosque, and the third largest in the world. Also, the adhan (prayer clock) can be seen in all corners of the mosque. If you’re keen enough, you’d notice all the ravishing and intricate particulars in this fascinating edifice.

The Abu Dhabi Grand Mosque is a major tourist attraction in the city… Thousands of tourists come here almost everyday (I went there on the last day of March 2012 with my sister and her family). Female adults have to wear the abaya though before they could get inside the premises of the mosque. For males who are wearing shorts, they’re also obliged to wear the kandura; but a decent pair of jeans and shirt would do. You can borrow these traditional arab garments for free at the entrance area. Thank God we don’t have to pay for anything (just the gas for your ride) to be able to experience this grandeur.^^
